Founded in Saint-Junien, France in 1893 as Rigaudy-Perrin, this glove house closed in the late 1970s and was relaunched by the Perrin family in the 2000s. Its signature Glove Clutch reinterprets its glove-making heritage as a leather handbag.
Perrin was founded in 1893 in Saint-Junien, a Limousin glovemaking town, as Rigaudy-Perrin, and by the 1920s it supplied leather gloves to Paris couture houses with boutiques operating internationally. The original business closed its doors in the late 1970s, and the brand lay dormant for roughly three decades before the Perrin family relaunched it, opening new boutiques in Beverly Hills and New York from 2009 and later in Paris, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
The relaunched house's best-known product is the Glove Clutch, a leather handbag shaped like a glove that the company itself describes as "an ironic nod" to its glove-making origins — a design choice that trades on Perrin's history rather than continuing its original product category as the primary business.
Saint-Junien, where Perrin was founded, is distinct from Millau, the town associated with fellow glovemakers Causse and Maison Fabre. Both are historic French glovemaking centres, but they are not the same place.
