What Seasalt Cornwall is known for
Clothing brand that grew out of a workwear shop the Chadwick family opened on Adelaide Street in Penzance, Cornwall, in 1981; became the first UK fashion company certified by the Soil Association for organic cotton, in 2005.
Seasalt began in 1981 when the Chadwick family bought a small shop on Adelaide Street in Penzance, at the western tip of Cornwall, originally selling traditional workwear such as fishermen's smocks and Guernsey pullovers to local farmers, fishermen and artists. Don Chadwick's sons Neil, Leigh and David later built a clothing brand around the coastal community's identity, moving from stocking others' workwear into designing their own collections. In 2005, Seasalt became the first UK fashion company certified by the Soil Association for organic cotton, and describes itself as one of the country's largest sellers of GOTS-certified organic cotton clothing. What started as a single Penzance shopfront has since grown into a multi-store UK clothing brand.
