U Fleků Beer Hall Gift Shop

The building housing U Fleků is first documented in 1499, when a maltster named Vít Skřemenec purchased it — making the site one of the oldest continuously operating brewing locations in Central Europe, with more than five centuries of beer production behind it. Brewing continued largely uninterrupted except during the communist era, when the property was nationalized; it was returned to its prior owners, the Brtník family, after the 1989 transition, with restitution concluding in 1991. Historically the venue's Akademie hall served as a meeting place for figures in Czech cultural and intellectual life. Today the complex spans eight themed dining halls plus a garden, each with its own particular history, and produces a single dark lager, the 13-degree Flekovský ležák, brewed on-site rather than sourced. The attached gift shop sells beer glasses, steins, and branded merchandise tied to that in-house lager, along with tickets for brewery tours and museum visits documenting the site's history. The venue markets itself as one of the oldest continuously brewing sites in Central Europe rather than claiming an unqualified 'world's oldest brewery' title, since older breweries with production interruptions exist elsewhere.
