What Union LA is known for
LA streetwear/sneaker shop opened as a second Union location by NY founder Eddie Cruz; taken over by staffer Chris Gibbs in 2010. Its Nike/Jordan collaborations since 2018 rank among sneaker retail's most discussed.
Union began in New York in 1989, founded by Eddie Cruz along with Mary Ann Fusco and James Jebbia, who went on to start Supreme. Cruz later opened a second Union location in Los Angeles. Chris Gibbs joined that LA store's staff in 1996 and took over ownership in 2010. Under Gibbs, Union LA became a regular Nike collaborator, starting with a reworked Air Force 180 in 2005, and released its first Air Jordan collaboration in 2018 - combining pairs of original 1985 Jordan 1 colorways into new combinations. Subsequent Union x Jordan releases became some of the most discussed collaborations in sneaker retail. Union LA continues to operate its Los Angeles store.
