Woodblock Chocolate

Portland

What Woodblock Chocolate is known for

Bean-to-bar chocolate maker started in 2011 by Charley and Jessica Wheelock out of their Portland, Oregon home; now operates a manufactory and tasting cafe at 1715 NE 17th Ave in Portland's Irvington-Broadway district, producing single-origin bars from roasted cacao.

Woodblock Chocolate began in 2011 as a home venture by Charley and Jessica Wheelock in Portland, Oregon. Charley took a chocolate-science course at UC Davis and bought hobby-scale bean-to-bar equipment; the couple started producing small batches of chocolate from raw cacao beans in their kitchen. As demand grew they moved production into their own facility, and on June 5, 2018, opened a roughly 1,500-square-foot manufactory and cafe at 1715 NE 17th Avenue, in Portland's Irvington-Broadway neighborhood, where visitors can watch roasting and bar production from the counter.
