What Aoki Tobo is known for
Aoki Tobo works out of a roughly 70-year-old house in Okawachiyama once inhabited by the founder's ceramicist grandparents, in the valley historically kept as the Nabeshima domain's exclusive kiln district. The studio fires celadon glazes and keeps a small showroom open daily except Mondays, one of about thirty potteries still working the same rock-walled hollow.
