What Maison Château Rouge is known for

Paris streetwear label founded 2015 by brothers Youssouf and Mamadou Fofana in the Chateau Rouge district, built on wax-print fabrics sourced from Cote d'Ivoire and Dakar via independent Chateau Rouge vendors.

Maison Chateau Rouge was founded in 2015 by brothers Youssouf and Mamadou Fofana, starting with a small run of T-shirts sold on social media and growing to distribution in 14 countries. Youssouf, born in France to Senegalese parents, named the label after the Chateau Rouge neighborhood in Paris's 18th arrondissement, a historic hub for the city's African diaspora. Collections are designed in Chateau Rouge and produced across Paris, Abidjan, Bamako and Dakar, mixing African wax-print fabric - much of it bought from independent fabric vendors within the neighborhood itself - with Western materials like jersey. The brothers also founded a related nonprofit, Les Oiseaux Migrateurs, in 2014, connecting African manufacturers and artisans with European markets.
