What Nagatani-en is known for
Nagatani-en has fired Iga-yaki pottery at its Marubashira kiln since 1832, using local clay drawn from a four-million-year-old lakebed prized for its heat resistance. The kiln is best known for the Kamado-san donabe, a direct-fire clay rice pot built under the workshop's principle that its makers should also be the product's daily users.
