What Peck is known for

Milan gastronomy hall founded in 1883 by Francesco Peck, a Prague-born salumiere; moved to its Via Spadari 9 address in 1912 under Eliseo Magnaghi and was an official supplier to Italy's Royal House by 1890.

Peck is a Milanese food hall founded in 1883 by Francesco Peck, a charcuterie maker originally from Prague, who opened a shop specializing in cured meats and smoked goods. The business quickly attracted an upscale clientele and, by 1890, was named an official supplier to Italy's Royal House. In 1912 new owner Eliseo Magnaghi moved the business to its present address at Via Spadari 9, near Milan's Duomo, and broadened the offer to fresh pasta and prepared gastronomy. Over the twentieth century Peck became a meeting place for Milanese cultural figures, reportedly including the writer Gabriele D'Annunzio.
