Unimatic

Unimatic was founded in Milan in 2015 by Giovanni Moro and Simone Nunziato, who met as industrial design students at the Politecnico di Milano and bonded over buying vintage watches together on eBay. Neither came from a traditional watchmaking or horology background; both were trained as industrial designers, and the brand's design language grew out of that discipline rather than conventional watch-industry practice. The pair started the company without an initial business plan, releasing minimalist tool watches in limited production runs rather than continuous collections. The brand's approach pairs a reduced, utilitarian design vocabulary with contemporary technical specifications, positioning each release as a distinct, self-contained model rather than part of an ongoing numbered series. Based in Milan, Unimatic has built a following in design and watch-collecting circles for keeping its releases small and its aesthetic stripped down, a contrast to larger watch brands' broader product lines.
