JJ Bean has been roasting coffee in Vancouver since 1996, and the company still frames its own standard in blunt terms: 'We source the finest green coffee available, purchase the best tasting coffee regardless of its certifications, and always pay well above Fair Trade prices on every coffee we buy.' Four house blends anchor the lineup -- JJ, Eastside, Decaf, and Railtown -- kept consistent year-round, while seasonal single-origin coffees rotate through to spotlight a particular farm or region, with the exact source and blend percentages printed on the bag rather than left vague. Cafes are spread across Metro Vancouver, each one designed to reflect the character of its own neighbourhood rather than a single templated look, and the roaster has continued expanding: a new location in Uptown New Westminster held its grand opening in July 2026. Beyond the counter, JJ Bean runs a wholesale program, a coffee subscription offering a 10% discount on regular orders, and the Over + Above Foundation, its own charitable arm. Several cafes also carry fresh daily donuts through a partnership with Neate Donuts. The company describes its underlying belief plainly -- 'we seek to honour people through the best coffee, food, spaces, and service possible' -- and points to repeated local recognition as 'Vancouver's Best' as evidence the approach has stuck for three decades.
